Mozambique’s Maputo-Catembe suspension bridge is now open.
We are very excited about the new suspension bridge linking Maputo. It has shortened the travel time across the bay significantly.
Africa Check correctly states that it is not only the bridge but also the tarred road that now connects normal sedan car drivers to Maputo via the Farazela Border post at Kosi Bay.
According to Memeburn the Maputo-Catembe bridge is also the longest suspension bridge in Africa. They also eloquently explain how China is involved.
Why are we excited about this, you might ask?
Well it shortens travel times across the Maputo bay but also has a great impact on travelers between KZN and Maputo.
With the 115 km south of Maputo also being tarred, the travel time between KZN and Maputo was reduced dramatically.
This means that we can now welcome Maputo residents for weekends away at Kosi Bay Mouth and the surrounding area.
South African will also benefit in terms of travel times.
Travelers coming via Mbombela and the Northern parts of the country can now drive through Mozambique instead of taking the long route around or through Swaziland to visit us.
We look forward to welcoming our new guests to the area and investigating the new business opportunities it may bring.
